Winnipeg pushing way beyond trash

I found a rather interesting initiative.  They want to take their okay results on reducing garbage and increasing recycling.    It is these kinds of promotional campaigns that along with other newer ideas like compsting, that will help us reduce our overall impact on the environment.

One drop of water

A leaky faucet.  Imagine 1 drop of water falling each minute.

The affect of this single drop of water over the course of a year?

You will literally poor down the drain 131 litres of water each year.

If it drips any faster, this amount grows.  Imagine if 2 faucets per home leaked in a small down,of we will say, 5000 people.  The number grows rather quickly!

1.31 million liters of water.

All it takes is a simple check now and again to change the rubber gasket, and you can save a heck of a lot of water!!

Paper has two sides

Most people know that paper has two sides, but often in offices, or other places of work, we only use one side.

By using both sides, we can reduce our paper usage by up to 50%.  This would not only entail a reduction in a budget needed to buy th epaper, but also woudl allow the purchasing agent to spend less time buying paper, and being availabel for other tasks.

If you have have other ideas on how using both sides benefits us, or other ways to improve paper use, please feel free to comment.
